ASU Antarctica Study Abroad 2022
From December 2022 to January 2023 I co-led the second study abroad to Antarctica from Arizona State University with Nicole Mayberry — and the first and only one to date to take in South Georgia and the “Shackleton Route” between Elephant Island and here.
Between December 16, 2022 and January 4, 2023, thirteen students embarked with us on a transformative journey that touched on everything from the geography of place and geopolitics, to complex ecosystems, conservation, and the complexities surrounding tourism in such places. Over nearly three intense weeks aboard the expedition ship Ocean Victory (along with over 170 other passengers and with an experienced expedition crew) they experienced some of the most remote and remarkable environments on Planet Earth.
